Between July and November, the Ação Macacu Project, run by Ação Socioambiental, offered courses in Seed Collection and Nursery Management, with classes at basic and advanced levels. The main objective of the initiative was to provide technical training to rural landowners in Cachoeiras de Macacu and to encourage the creation of a network for collecting and selling seeds and seedlings. This action aimed to boost the restoration of local ecosystems in the region.
During the courses, participants had access to a complete experience, combining theory and practice. In the Seed Collection course, they learned essential techniques for identifying, extracting and storing seeds, acquiring fundamental knowledge to work as seed collectors. In the Nursery Management course, they received theoretical and practical training in the management of forest nurseries, covering everything from seedling production to caring for native species of the Atlantic Forest.
The courses, which resulted in the training of 51 people, reinforce the commitment of the Ação Macacu Project to promoting actions that combine environmental conservation, economic development and strengthening of local communities.
